Our Story
Established in 1974, the Inland Lakes Protection & Rehabilitation District #1 includes Reservoir Pond, Horn Lake, Little Horn Lake, Explosion Lake and a portion of McCaslin Brook.
Our lake district is a specialized unit of government and operates under the laws of Chapter 33 of the Wisconsin State Statutes. Our focus is on lake management in order to enhance, preserve and protect the quality of our waters.
In order to manage and enhance our covered waters, we monitor water quality, inventory and monitor aquatic plants, develop long-range lake management plans, conduct educational programs relating to the health of our waters, communicate with various units of government as needed, and help protect our lake habitats.
Authority for governing our lake district is shared by the board of commissioners, resident voters, and property owners. The board of commissioners has general responsibility for conducting the business of the district.
Resident voters and property owners control major policy matters by electing commissioners, approving the annual budget and attending the annual meetings.
